Mark Hooper
Specialty: Absolute beginners, the development of a teacher’s own playing and preparation for Associate and Licentiate exams.
Mark studied piano at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Royal College of Music, London and The Banff Centre, Canada. He performed his Wigmore Hall debut recital in 1985 and is still performing in Australia and England. His work, while a student, as a Yamaha Junior Music teacher projected him on a path of researching the teaching of beginners. A Dalcroze Diploma followed and a thriving teaching practice alongside his performing career. In Oxford, Uk, where he lived for 24 years Mark was regularly a ‘Mentor’ to local piano teachers there, while he was also teaching piano at Oxford University. Mark loves both teaching and performing.
Mark is the current QMTA President.
