These are the recommended minimum tuition fees. Add GST where applicable:
About QMTA Recommended Minimum Rates:
The recommended minimum rates apply to QMTA fully accredited members (Professional members), Associate & Student members
The rates are minimum recommended base rates, and do not include any on-costs such as superannuation, annual leave or GST.
Individual private studio charges and school-based employment arrangements are subject to negotiation by either party.
The recommended minimum rates are reviewed once a year by the QMTA Council.
Rate increases reflect annual CPI adjustments and may also take into account other factors such as national comparisons, industry standards and historical increases.
Only QMTA members may quote the QMTA Recommended Teaching Rates
Private studio classes
2024 Private Tuition / Mentoring - the rate for what the student pays the teacher:
Professional Member: $82/hr ($85/hr in 2025)
Associate Member: $72/hr ($75/hr in 2025)
Student Member: $62/hr ($65/hr in 2025)

Conducting
The Australian National Choral Association (ANCA) has recommended rates of pay for choral conductors and accompanists here.
Groups
Shared Tuition - 2 instrumental/voice students
$115/hr - rate divided by two students
Group Tuition - 3 or more instrumental/voice students
$120/hr - rate divided by no. of students
Workshop/Masterclass - professional development (presenter rate)
$125/hr ($140/hr in 2025) - attendees pay whatever is stipulated
Examinations
Online Examination Invigilation: The charge for invigilating an online exam should not exceed half of the recommended minimum teaching fee per hour. (To be negotiated between a teacher and their client.)
Accompanying:
Level 1 performance exams (Preliminary to Grade 4) - $70
Level 2 performance exams (Grade 5 - 8 & Certificate) - $90
Level 3 performance exams (Diploma Exams) - $110+ - Fees to be negotiated
Exam rehearsals - $90/hr
